The Guild Constitution
“Our artists come first. Well, what would you expect? We are all artists here.”
Guild AP was originally conceptualized as an effort to help improve standards for professional artists and influence change in the art industry in the United States.
We are committed to improving rights, contracts and compensation for artists.
We strive to promote higher standards by leading through example.
We strive to bring artists together, open communication and create conversation; thus, empowering artists.
We aim to create awareness of poor practices in the art trade.
We will continue to promote and protect the economic interests of our members. Our member artists profit a greater percentage from each sale and maintain full authorship of their images. In turn, an artist’s work can continue to earn profit throughout the life of the artist and the life of his/her art. Hollywood, music and liter- ature industries are commonly known for chiefly offering royalties. So, then why, don’t the same standards apply to the commercial art sector!
